As a socially responsible paper manufacturer, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper has already spent many years prioritizing environmentally aware production and further processing methods. Now the high-tech paper manufacturer at the company’s Bielefeld site has been hosting a ceremony for the awarding of Eco Profit certificates—and has been awarded, too.
No fewer than eleven companies from the Bielefeld region were awarded Eco Profit certification status, including Mitsubishi HiTec Paper, the company hosting this event. The award was presented to the managing directors Nobuo Saito and Gerhard Schoon by the North Rhine-Westphalian Environment Minister Eckhard Uhlenberg and the Mayor of Bielefeld, Eberhard David.
"Even in economically challenging times, we have consistently prioritized environmentally aware production and further processing methods for our products. In the course of the Eco Profit certification process, we have demonstrated convincingly that Mitsubishi HiTec Paper engages fully with the requirements relating to environmental protection in an operational context and that we comply with all specifications relating to environmental legislation. We are particularly proud of our extensive environment program, which we drew up as part of our involvement in the Eco Profit project," said Gerhard Schoon, managing director of the Bielefeld company.
Through implementation of the measures adopted as part of this environment program, the Bielefeld site achieved the following savings:
• 120 000 m³ water
• 16 000 kWh electrical energy
• 42 000 MWh heat energy
• 486 to pulp
Over and above that, the activities relating to savings in steam and improved heat recuperation on the papermaking machines achieved a reduction in CO² emissions amounting to 14 818 to.
