GMG introduces updated GMG InkOptimizer 4.6 at Print 09

GMG's InkOptimizer 4.6 will be shown for the first time at GMG booth 7159 during Print 09 in Chicago from September 11-16. GMG InkOptimizer significantly reduces CMY color ink use, replacing it with additional black ink, maintaining sharpness, reducing ink volumes and improving print quality. While images remain identical to the naked eye, the amount of color ink used is significantly reduced--promising ink savings of up to 25% on press. Make-ready is faster and waste is reduced.

The primary new features of version 4.6 focus on advanced production reliability--available to any user; not just color specialists--and increased productivity.

Integration of the Adobe PDF Library
Today, nearly every application can create PDF files and, unfortunately, this results in a wide variety of PDF files with different interpretations and color spaces delivered throughout the print supply chain. Files in InkOptimizer 4.6 are now processed using the Adobe PDF Library, guaranteeing the correct interpretation of PDF files and, therefore, greater productivity because files do not have to be manually checked for accuracy. PDF files can now be flattened, and transparent and overprinting elements yield identical results as in the Adobe Acrobat reference software. The Adobe PDF Library and the possibility of reducing transparencies mean a massive increase in production reliability.

No expert knowledge needed
GMG InkOptimizer 4.6 is shipped with preconfigured hot folders for standard printing conditions. Configurations for all leading printing standards can be imported immediately after installation. As a result, GMG InkOptimizer 4.6 can be put to use instantly. The GMG-tested hot folders guarantee every user the best possible color conversions. This avoids errors from the outset, benefiting production reliability.

Normalizing to a color space and ink reduction in one step GMG InkOptimizer 4.6 and GMG ColorServer 4.6 and can be seamlessly integrated and configured together in one hot folder. For customers who work both with GMG ColorServer and with GMG InkOptimizer, this means increased productivity, because normalizing and processing in GMG InkOptimizer can take place in a single process step. This reduces the effort required to configure the system, facilitates integration, and boosts processing speed.
